And what kind of picture is it? Big, certainly: IMAX-scaled, and a hefty 150 minutes even after a visibly ruthless edit. It’s clever, too — yes, the palindromic title has some narrative correlation — albeit in an exhausting, rather joyless way. As second comings go, “Tenet” is like witnessing a Sermon on the Mount preached by a savior who speaks exclusively in dour, drawn-out riddles. Any awe is flattened by follow-up questions....

“The Essex Serpent,” a six-episode period fantasy series based on Sarah Perry’s New York Times-bestselling novel of the same name, stars Hiddleston as a small-town priest in Victorian England who teams up with a grieving widow to investigate the existence of a mythical serpent. Claire Danes co-stars as the widow, Cora Seaborne, in the genre-bending period piece that promises to continue Apple’s recent hot streak of buzzy television shows. The show is set to premiere on Apple TV+ next month, but the tech giant has released the first trailer for the limited series today....

Even at #1, a Netflix chart can tell only a small part of the story. A major new English-language new original is the default #1 more often than not. The HFPA is slowly making strides towards realizing its diversity plan goals, but they are still encountering resistance from publicists who refuse to deliver clients. In the old days, distributors submitted their films, suggesting the categories they preferred (“The Martian” was laughably deemed a comedy) and supplied talent for press conferences exclusive to the Golden Globes. With the live show canceled by NBC and few publicists contributing talent, this year the HFPA is going ahead and announcing their awards anyway, with no TV show or submission requirements....

Speaking with Collider about his science-fiction shows “Upload” and “Space Force,” Daniels was once again asked the inevitable question about potentially reviving “The Office.” He refused to rule out the idea, and admitted that NBC executives would likely be thrilled if he decided to do it. But Daniels was adamant that any revival would look very different from the original series. Rather than a continuation of the lives of Pam and Jim and Dwight, he envisions a potential reboot of “The Office” as a continuation of the world of the show....

After lead star Elliot Page came out as trans in 2020, the Netflix series includes Page’s character also coming out as Viktor Hargreeves, who uses he/him pronouns. Page announced the news for his character in March, teasing a first look image for the third season.
