For the second consecutive year, the filming of Emmy Awards Spotlight took place not within the state-of-the-art PMC studio, but within the comfort of subjects’ homes, as pandemic safety measures remain our top priority....

As Leto readies to present his next big role to the world — playing a serial killer in John Lee Hancock’s “The Little Things,” out later this month — the actor has some thoughts on all those (not always nice) claims that he tends to go “full Method” in his prep. During a recent appearance on Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast (via The Playlist), Leto was asked about his reputation for getting, well, a little deep in his work and what he thinks about the term “Method actor....

“I’m like, ‘If I spend two hours reading another script, that’s two hours you’ve stolen from our budget. Because time is the only currency that cannot be replaced. And I’ll be damned if you take another dollar from this budget, because my heart’s in this one. You call me one more time, you’re getting blocked,’” Collins told IndieWire during a recent interview. “And he did. I said, ‘What do you want?...

“I remember calling my mom when I first got the movie and I was like, ‘I’m making my first happy movie, Mom. You’re going to love it. You’re going to be so excited to watch it!’” Decker said in a recent interview with IndieWire. “She’s like, ‘What’s it about?’ And I was like, ‘It’s about a girl whose sister died.’ But it really is, by far, my happiest movie. It’s much more positive than the things I usually make, and I was really ready for that....

“We thought we were being so smart, and so cutting-edge,” Feige said. “We’re not going to do the cliché of the wizened, old, wise Asian man. But it was a wake-up call to say, ‘Well, wait a minute, is there any other way to figure it out? Is there any other way to both not fall into the cliché and cast an Asian actor?’ And the answer to that, of course, is yes....

As voiced by Caplan, Libby Epstein doesn’t announce herself right away. The emphasis at the FX/Hulu show’s start is on Toby Fleishman, Jesse Eisenberg’s functionally anxious liver specialist who sees his teetering home life crash to the ground. In the setup of the crumbling marriage of Toby and ex-wife Rachel (Clare Danes), it’s Libby giving the backstory and the psychological insight and the windows into distant memories. Even in the most basic of overviews, Caplan’s performance is planting clues for what’s to come, when we eventually get to see the person behind the voice....

After Robbie and “Birds of Prey” scribe Christina Hodson announced in 2020 a female-fronted “Pirates of the Caribbean” spinoff, Robbie recently confirmed to Vanity Fair that the project is dead in the water at Disney. “We had an idea and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led — not totally female-led, but just a different kind of story — which we thought would’ve been really cool, but I guess they don’t want to do it,” Robbie said of Disney....
