In Medias Res Tv Why Start Your Pilot At The Beginning Tv Podcast

For the unfamiliar, in medias res is a latin term which translates to “in the middle of things.” On TV, utilization of the concept will often see an episode begin “in the middle of” an action-packed sequence, in which the audience has no idea what’s going on but are (theoretically) drawn-in enough to try and figure it out. At the conclusion of the scene, the show will many times insert a text card reading, “24 hours earlier” or some such cue, flashing back to tell its story in earnest, this time from the beginning....

Since moving back to Iran in 2017, Rasoulof has been banned from making films and travelling outside the country after being charged with “propaganda against the system” for his provocative films. He was also sentenced to a year in prison, a charge he was in the process of appealing before the arrest. The Associated Press reported Friday that the filmmakers were arrested for recent social media posts they made that were critical of the government Kaveh Farnam and Farzad Pak, two of Rasoulof’s Iranian producers, released a statement via distributor Kino Lorber on Twitter, which condemned the arrest while revealing that the two filmmakers are currently being held in an unknown location....

Jamie Kennedy Talks Roe V Wade Why He Ended Up In Anti Abortion Film

“In Hollywood, a lot of people were talking about this movie, and first and foremost, I’m an actor. I act,” Kennedy said. “I’ve worked with Jon Voight twice before, and he’s one of the greatest actors ever. I thought it was an important story, and to be honest, I got offered the role. It was a more dramatic part and a real offer, and so I did some research. I knew there was a lot of stuff we were walking into but in other parts in Hollywood, I have to read, read, read, and this was a nice offer....

John Cho On Harold And Kumar Legacy And How The Film Was Race Blind

The “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle” star reflected on the legacy of the 2004 buddy comedy co-starring Kal Penn. “Its posture towards race is to laugh at it,” Cho explained to The Guardian. “Instead of elevating it, it took the stereotypes and turned the sock inside out. Looking back, I think we were ahead of our time a little bit.” The iconic comedy followed two college friends, Harold (Cho) and Kumar (Penn), who set out to escape the pressures of corporate life and grad school applications by smoking weed and fulfilling a craving for White Castle burgers....

“One time, I came down on one side or the other about the story, and then I regretted it,” Theroux said. “So I don’t want anyone to Google what my answer would be. But in the same vein as Matt being, ‘Let people have their stories,’ I very much enjoy hearing both sides…I feel like a bit of a jerk for ever giving my opinion on it because I don’t want to deprive anyone else of their story and I don’t want to sway anyone either way....

Kyle Maclachlan Wants Villeneuve S Dune In Theaters Not Hbo Max

“I’m excited to see it,” MacLachlan told The Times. “It’s one of my favorite books and I look forward to seeing what the director Villeneuve does with it. I think the simultaneous release is kind of the wave of the future. It’s disheartening though because a movie like that is meant to be seen on the large screen.” Villeneuve previously condemned Warner Bros. for shifting “Dune” to a hybrid release model, writing an open letter last December that read: “There is absolutely no love for cinema, nor for the audience here....

Last Man Standing Review Death Row Records Doc Shows Tired Theories

Based on its title, “Last Man Standing: Suge Knight and the Murders of Biggie & Tupac” looks to recontextualize the case by positing that Death Row Records founder, Marion “Suge” Knight, was the instigator of one murder. But Broomfield’s focus ends up being far too scattered. For a while it’s a biographical doc: At times he seems more interested in how a man like Knight, who came from a close-knit family, could become a representative for the gangster lifestyle....
