Canadians can buy tickets to watch many of TIFF’s 100-plus films online anywhere in the country during the festival’s September 9-18 run. Those with press and industry passes can stream many titles anywhere in the world, though some of the biggest movies, like “Dune,” “Last Night in Soho,” and “Spencer” won’t be available online for the public or industry passholders. But there’s plenty of discovery titles and highly anticipated ones available online: Phillip Noyce’s “Lakewood,” which stars Naomi Watts as a woman who must race to save her child during an active shooter incident; Jonas Poher Rasmussen’s animated refugee documentary “Flee” that premiered at Sundance to raves; and “Beba,” a personal documentary and feature debut from Afro-Latina New Yorker Rebeca “Beba” Huntt, which is already being called a potential breakout ahead of its TIFF premiere....

Jennifer Schuur (formerly a producer on “Hannibal”) and Joshua Allen (a story editor on “Empire”) serve as co-showrunners on the series, working from the formula developed by producer Rodrigo Garcia. Each episode focuses on a particular patient and his or her sessions with Dr. Taylor. This time around, Anthony Ramos (“In the Heights”), Liza Colón-Zayas (“Keane”), John Benjamin Hickey (Broadway’s “The Inheritance”), and Quintessa Swindell (“Voyagers”) join the series, with Joel Kinnaman of “Altered Carbon” and “The Killing” playing Brooke’s on-and-off longtime boyfriend....

“I think it will be a man because I don’t think a woman should play James Bond,” Broccoli said in her recent The Hollywood Reporter profile. “I believe in making characters for women and not just having women play men’s roles. I don’t think there are enough great roles for women, and it’s very important to me that we make movies for women about women. He should be British, so British can be any [ethnicity or race]....

As for Momoa, he was recently asked by The New York Times about the depiction of sexual assault in “Thrones.” The reporter asked the actor if he thinks “differently today about those scenes” and if he has “any regrets.” “Well, it was important to depict Drogo and his style,” Momoa first responded. “You’re playing someone that’s like Genghis Khan. It was a really, really, really hard thing to do. But my job was to play something like that, and it’s not a nice thing, and it’s what that character was....

Still, Wednesday’s panel at the Television Critics Association virtual Winter Press Tour offered up a good idea of what powers the still-yet-unnamed series. The show centers on Smart as Deborah Vance, a comedian whose act has been a marquee Las Vegas attraction for years. Hannah Einbinder plays a fledgling comedy writer tasked with helping Deborah’s act reach a broader audience. If “pioneering comedian with a Vegas act” conjures a specific real-life analogue, then don’t expect Smart to be playing that particular person....

“I’ve not even taken a vacation,” Cuoco told Glamour in a cover story. “I would rather work than hang out on a beach somewhere. But [that relentless pursuit] was making me sick.” And Cuoco meant that literally: While the star filmed Season 2 of “The Flight Attendant” over seven months across three countries, Cuoco developed a stress-induced skin condition due to the intensity of the new season and her recent divorce....
