Based on the trailer, Hart is playing a character seemingly inspired by himself, an ultra-successful comedian named The Kid. Life appears to be good, but when Kid’s older brother (Wesley Snipes) shows back up in his life, it threatens to destroy not just the Kid’s career but could see more violent things unfold. Right now there’s little else to go off of, including what exactly is going to land the Kid in hot water, but there’s a serious desire to make this a heavy drama....

Perry most recently directed “A Jazzman’s Blues,” a historical melodrama for Netflix that made its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival back in September. Some of his other recent projects include the 12th Madea movie, “A Madea Homecoming,” also for Netflix, and the thriller “A Fall From Grace.” Perry previously had a first-look deal with Lionsgate and in 2019 released “A Madea Family Funeral,” which made $74.7 million worldwide....

It was previously announced that Noah Baumbach’s Don DeLillo adaptation “White Noise” would be the opening night film, the first time a Netflix movie has had that honor. It will screen in competition and contest for the Golden Lion. The film follows a renowned professor of Hitler studies at a U.S. liberal arts college (Adam Driver) who, with his fourth wife (Greta Gerwig), faces an “airborne toxic event” hanging over his town that threatens everyone’s lives....

By the time Henry called out Singer, Mortensen had already made up his mind that he would not accept the role. Although the actor would go on to sign up for three “Lord of the Rings” movies, at the time of the “X-Men” discussions, he was not interested in taking on a role that would commit him to an infinite amount of film projects. “The thing that bothered me at the time was just the commitment of endless movies of that same character over and over,” Mortensen told MTV....
