Emmy nominee David Oyelowo published a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter detailing the ripple effect of the now-infamous Oscars slap. Oyelowo has been a bystander to a number of dramatic episodes at the Oscars, from “Selma” being snubbed for Best Actor and Best Director igniting #OscarsSoWhite in 2015 to his viral reaction to “La La Land” being mistakenly announced Best Picture. “But like most of us, nothing could have prepared me for what was to come,” Oyelowo wrote of the 94th annual Oscars....

“We have been hearing in the past few decades that it’s not possible to adapt this book, and that it’s an impossible task. Where to Watch “Elves”: Netlix There’s probably never a world where “Elves” wasn’t going to use a moody cover of a Christmas song over its opening credits. Sure enough, within a few minutes of the show starting, there’s a version of “Carol of the Bells” that’s even more ominous than its natural, Hallmark Channel resting state. Embedded within the idea of calling a show “Elves” (or, its original Danish title “Nisser”) is a sly smile....

As is typical, a Disney animated film — this time, “Encanto” — leads the field. It grossed $40.3 million over five days, which is a pale comparison against 2019. That’s when “Frozen II” grossed $125 million in its second weekend and “Ralph Breaks the Internet” opened to $85 million. “Coco” grossed $73 million in 2018. In a statement to Variety, the director of public affairs for the Atlanta Police Department said there are several law enforcement agencies dispatched to the Hartsfield-Jackson airport in Atlanta. The director said the Atlanta Police Department was not involved in allegedly profiling Andre. Variety notes police officers for Clayton County, Georgia also operate in the airport. “The Atlanta Police Department became aware of Mr. Andre’s social media posts, prior to news media reaching out to us,” the Atlanta Police Department said in a statement....
