There’s a horrible phenomenon that occurs from time to time, when a fan of a television comedy finds out that behind-the-scenes, all their favorite actors despise each other and the familial relationship they have on screen is merely a testament to the group’s collective acting talent. With “Ted Lasso” being the Apple TV+ phenomenon that took the pandemic by storm, it seems only natural that people might be worried that all the feel-good hijinks and empathetic encounters are wholly fictional, revealing a disappointing reality underneath....

That nearly two-decade time jump means that, were a movie adaptation to take place, the original “Harry Potter” film stars Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) could technically star in the movie. Which is exactly what “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” and “Chamber of Secrets” director Chris Columbus would hope to do, according to a new interview in Variety celebrating the first film’s 20th anniversary....

But this isn’t about him. “House of the Dragon” takes place nearly 200 years before “Game of Thrones,” with an entirely new cast of characters, different battles (personal and physical), and an unfamiliar Westeros that viewers will soon get to know. The series recounts events laid out in George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” but for those unable to catch up on centuries of fantasy folklore ahead of the August 21 HBO premiere, here’s what you need to know....

The film’s synopsis reads: “In this feel good apocalyptic comedy, freewheeling Liza (Zoe Lister-Jones) scores an invite to one last wild party before the world ends. But making it there won’t be easy, after her car is stolen, and the clock is ticking on her plan to tie up loose ends with friends and family. Accompanied by her younger self (Cailee Spaeny), Liza embarks on a hilarious journey across Los Angeles, running into an eclectic cast of characters....

CNN will begin New Year’s Eve live coverage starting at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, December 31. Viewers who pay for the cable channel can stream live via CNN’s website, CNN OTT, CNNgo, or other mobile apps. The special will also be available on demand the day after the broadcast via CNN.com, CNN apps, and cable operator platforms. From 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. ET, coverage will be hosted from New York City’s Times Square by Anderson Cooper, a role he has held on the channel since 2002....
