Kevin Smith’s animated Netflix series “Masters of the Universe: Revelation” is the latest bit of franchise IP to become the victim of toxic fandom. Similar to Rian Johnson’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” Smith’s direct sequel series to “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” (1983-85) is being review bombed on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb and trolled on social media for taking the franchise in directions fans don’t agree (via Variety)....

Durst continues to show the space to prospective tenants. Said spokesman Jordan Barowitz, “We are still showing the space — minus the stuff they stole.” On July 7, Durst entered a request for summary judgment in its suit against Landmark holding company Silver Cinemas Acquisition. Summary judgment means a party to the case asks that the facts they claim be adjudicated without a trial. Landmark announced it would permanently close the three-year-old theater after it couldn’t come to terms with Durst on renegotiating their 30-year lease....

Over the last week, Google Trends showed slightly more searches for “When will Lightyear be on Disney+” than “Lightyear movie times.” The search popularity for “Lightyear streaming” peaked June 17, the day the movie was released in theaters. By comparison, searches for “Encanto” peaked December 26, two days after it landed on Disney+. In other words, parents (and other nostalgic adults) are ready for the “Toy Story” origin story to hit their home TVs already....
