The look and design were explicitly laid out in a photo album that Coen shared with Dechant, after the director spent a year refining his black-and-white vision with cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel. But “The Underground Railroad” was also one of the most widely and passionately acclaimed series of the last year....

Taking inspiration from the 2007 book “Integrity” by Richard Nixon administration lawyer Egil Krogh — who is played in the series by “Mad Men” actor Rich Sommer — and Matthew Krogh, “The White House Plumbers” recounts the Watergate break-in of the Democratic National Committee’s headquarters in 1972, from the perspective of E. Howard Hunt (Woody Harrelson) and G. Gordon Liddy (Justin Theroux), members of the “White House Plumbers” group tasked with stopping leaks of classified information who plotted the break-in that failed and eventually led to the collapse of Nixon’s administration....

The show’s official synopsis reads: “Part survival drama, part dystopic slumber party, ‘The Wilds’ follows a group of teen girls from different backgrounds who must fight for survival after a plane crash strands them on a deserted island. The castaways both clash and bond as they learn more about each other, the secrets they keep, and the traumas they’ve all endured. The writer-director told Insider that the post-credits message teasing “Thor will be back” was even a “surprise” to him and lead star Chris Hemsworth. “I’m not joking,” Waititi explained. “I saw it in the theater and I was like, ‘Oh, shit. Really?’ Even Chris was like, ‘What?’” Waititi helmed “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Thor: Love and Thunder,” which most recently opened in theaters July 8. So, would Waititi direct another “Thor” movie, the fifth in the hero’s standalone series?...

Despite the film’s wit and geniality — and despite the himbo perfection of a Chris Hemsworth performance so refined and self-possessed that it single-handedly justifies the decision to build another blockbuster around it — “Love and Thunder” is clouded by its uncertain place in the universe from the moment it starts. And yet, the same thing could be said about Thor, whose mega-swole aimlessness mirrors that of his new movie in a way that sometimes allows this chapter of the MCU to feel more intimate and personal than many of the 28 installments that came before it....
