Two of the facility’s most high profile inmates are filmmakers Jafar Panahi and Mohammad Rasoulof, who have been imprisoned for their criticisms of the Iranian government. Rasoulof was arrested in July following a series of provocative social media posts. That led Panahi to visit a prison to inquire about his fellow filmmaker’s sentence, only to find himself arrested and sentenced to six years in prison for doing so. In a new interview with Radio Farda, the Iranian branch of Radio Free Europe, Panahi’s wife, Tahira Saeedi, spoke about what the filmmakers endured during the fire....

As the star of Villeneuve’s back to back 2013 films — science-fiction puzzler “Enemy” and kidnapping drama “Prisoners” — Gyllenhaal played a big role in the director’s breakthrough in the U.S. “Prisoners” opened in domestic theaters ahead of “Enemy,” but the latter actually went into production almost a year before the former. Gyllenhaal said that ahead of working with Villeneuve for the first time on “Enemy,” the two artists had a dinner meeting that sealed the deal on their creative partnership....

Producer Barbara Broccoli confirmed that the next 007 film will be a total “reinvention” of the famed spy and that casting hasn’t even begun yet. “Nobody’s in the running,” Broccoli revealed during a BFI Fellowship dinner, via Deadline. “We’re working out where to go with him, we’re talking that through. There isn’t a script and we can’t come up with one until we decide how we’re going to approach the next film because, really, it’s a reinvention of Bond....

Speaking on a Deadline podcast this week, longtime Bond producer Barbara Broccoli had nothing but good things to say about Idris Elba. “We know Idris, I’m friends with him,” she said. “He’s a magnificent actor.” However, she made sure to remain noncommittal about any potential casting and said that any conversations up to this point have been purely hypothetical. While fans have been speculating about Daniel Craig’s replacement for years, the producer did not want to begin work on her next casting search until he had officially departed....

After the final installment of Craig’s turn as Bond, the Faroe Islands commissioned a custom grave to honor the filming location of “No Time to Die.” The island of Kalsoy served as the villain’s lair for Bond’s nemesis Lyutsifer Safin (Rami Malek), who ultimately kills the famed MI6 agent. The grave is positioned near the Kallur lighthouse on the island and reads, “In Memory of James Bond, 1962–2021,” as reported by the official Guide to the Faroe Islands page....

“There’s no doubt Kevin Feige is way more involved with editing than people are at Warner Bros.,” Gunn said. “He gives more notes. You don’t have to take them and I don’t always take them.
