In the finale of the based-on-a-real-story tale, Michelle Carter (an excellent Elle Fanning) has just been convicted of involuntary manslaughter for repeatedly encouraging her then-boyfriend to take his own life. As she is being led away to jail, the show deviates from reality and imagines one final fantasy sequence: Michelle and Conrad (Colton Ryan) meeting up at a bar years later, with none of this awful tragedy between them. For a moment, they are just two troubled teens now all grown up, able to find some peace and meet under better circumstances....

Any documentary with a score as lush and uplifting as the one that Blake Neely composed for “Good Night Oppy” has gotta be a glorified commercial for something, but at least Ryan White’s nice and glossy film about NASA’s two most famous Mars rovers is upfront about what it’s selling: The magic of science. Family-friendly STEM propaganda that never feels like it was only (or even especially) made for kids, “Good Night Oppy” follows its WALL-E-like stars from their launch in 2003 all the way through their respective lifecycles on the Red Planet, which were only supposed to be 90 sols long (that’s Martian for “day”), but — in the nerd equivalent of a Hanukkah miracle — lasted for several years before the robots finally quiet quit as the people who made them watched from the sidelines some 300 million miles away....

Ostensibly an ensemble piece, the 10 half-hour episodes center on Camille (Meagan Good). A popular adjunct professor at Columbia University (her classes are always waitlisted), Camille is on a tenure track, vying for the institution’s open Associates Professor position. In her day-to-day, Camille often finds support from her three talented friends: the fashion designer Quinn (Grace Byers), a down-on-her-luck singer Angie (Shoniqua Shandai), and a lesbian tech mogul Tye (Jerrie Johnson), who’s created an app for queer Black singles, often the most at-risk group, to find safe dates and dating experiences in the city....

Megan is cute and sweet, and she gravitates straight toward Laura, much to the chagrin of her mother (Eileen O’Higgins) and somewhat gruff stepdad (Martin McCann)....
