When David Gordon Green’s “Halloween” trilogy opens, masked maniac Michael Myers is in a familiar place: institutionalized at Smith’s Grove Psychiatric Hospital, where he’s been for decades. Soon enough, however, he breaks out of the joint, goes after forever foe Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), and embarks on one hell of a killing spree. After a bruising battle with Laurie, the film ends with Michael (presumably) dead in her burning basement, only for a post-credits scene to reveal he’s, oops!...

Given all that hype, it should come as little surprise the first two hours (of the nine-hour first season) elicit immediate comparisons to two of TV’s most successful recent programs: “Halo” enlists the stark violence of “Game of Thrones,” while hinting at similar political scheming amid an ongoing war, while its A-plot follows “The Mandalorian” model: a masked, stoic, emotionally stunted warrior questions his creed when asked to sell out an innocent child....

The Gothic romance doesn’t just discuss the nature of grief, love, and toxic relationships. It’s also a meditation on how the world of adaptation can open opportunities for marginalized communities the original author would have left out. Titled “The Bermuda Triangle: Into Cursed Waters,” the upcoming six-part series follows a team of underwater investigators as they identify wrecks in the western part of the North Atlantic region — where the so-called Bermuda Triangle, known in urban legends as a place where many ships have disappeared, is located. According to The History Channel, during shooting for the series last March, the crew attempted to find the wreckage of a PBM Martin Mariner Rescue Plane that disappeared in 1945, only to discover a 2o-foot segment of a modern aviation structure in the depths of the water....

Co-showrunners Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik have openly addressed the “reimagining” of George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood” for the series, premiering August 21. The 10-episode show is set 200 years prior to the events of “GoT” and centers on a civil war that split the Targaryen clan apart. Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Paddy Considine, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans lead the series.
