At 13 you’re too young to be treated like an adult, and you’re also not fully out of the weeds of those icky preteen years. Being stuck in that unstable place can lead to acts of rebellion and bad behavior, and in “Marvelous and the Black Hole,” Kate Tsang’s cute coming-of-age comedy, Sammy (Mia Cech) is about as insufferable as anyone could be on the verge of 14. She skips class, smokes cigarettes, badmouths her father, and spews venom at any authority figure in her path....

Luca Guadagnino’s cannibal love story “Bones and All” with Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell is also set to make its New York premiere. “Ranging from illuminating portraits and affecting personal stories to uncomfortable histories that ignite change, the third edition of our NYFF Spotlight section is a curated mix of world premieres, films, by acclaimed auteurs, a selection of must-see documentaries, as well as a one of a kind evening of film and music,” Eugene Hernandez, executive director of the New York Film Festival, said....

That was the case with “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” the recent Disney+ limited series that saw Ewan McGregor reprise his role from George Lucas’ prequel trilogy. The project was originally conceived as a movie, and many, including one of the original writers, wish that it stayed that way. Kai Patterson, a filmmaker and passionate “Star Wars” fan, is one of them. He was so passionate about seeing “Obi-Wan Kenobi” as a film that he took it upon himself to cut down the six episode series into a feature (via Variety)....
