Nielsen’s preliminary viewership statistics for the show stated that the Emmys were watched by an audience of 7.4 million, an increase from the 2020 show’s all-time low of 6.3 million viewers as well as 2019’s 6.9 million viewers. Viewership for the entertainment industry’s various award shows has been on the decline for years and the Primetime Emmys’ 2019 and 2020 installments were the lowest-rated Emmy ceremonies since the event began tracking viewership data in 1990....
Which is what makes today — the final day of Phase 2 voting for this year’s Emmys — the perfect time to start looking ahead to next year, where Emmy races across the board promise plenty of intrigue. Decks will likely be stacked with a whole host of returning favorites, in addition to whatever new programs rise to the top. But before we get to that, another disclaimer for this Emmy season: It’s through no fault of the programs competing that this year’s races seem a bit lackluster....
Radio Silence is made up of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella. The team is best known for their work on “Ready or Not” and for directing the fifth “Scream” film (released earlier this year) as well as the upcoming “Scream 6,” which is slated for 2023. They’ll be partnering with Carpenter himself for the “Escape from New York” reboot, which has Carpenter serving as executive producer.
