The NBCUniversal-owned Peacock streaming service unlocked all seasons of the acclaimed “The Office” comedy series for its free tier of users on Thursday. All regular episodes of the nine-season sitcom can be streamed on the platform through March 25. But what a battle: In this fast-paced adventure from Swedish director Victor Danell (credited as his collective, Crazy Pictures), an unsuspecting public contends with toxic rain that renders its victims into puddles of dementia who slam their cars into epic pileups as a mystery international threat invades from the skies. Like Jeremy Saulnier’s “Green Room,” the movie oscillates from stark survival drama to outright war movie and back again, speeding through taut, claustrophobic shootouts and exploding helicopters even as it shoehorns the spectacle into a somber look at one broken family....

Previous uses of StageCraft for “The Mandalorian,” “The Book of Boba Fett,” “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” and “The Batman” excelled at contained scenes with very conducive lighting conditions and fairly shallow depth of field. Yet, because of how aggressively Waititi likes to shoot his action scenes for IMAX — with great depth of field — StageCraft was best suited as an interactive lighting tool for shooting actors in the volume with the best approximation of the environments....

Returning to the Glenn Gould Theatre, TIFF’s Industry Conference lineup also announced today will engage and inspire industry delegates from all over the world with a highly curated slate of sessions and inspiring speakers. This year’s festival runs September 8 through 16. Heading up the series lineup is, among others, Lars von Trier with the return of his twisted dark comedy series “The Kingdom,” revolving around a supernatural hospital.
