IMAX closed the first trading day after the “Avatar 2” opening weekend down 5.76 percent. Disney, the studio behind “Avatar: The Way of Water,” declined 4.77 percent to hit a low point not seen since 2014. (The beginning of the pandemic came darn close for Disney, which was forced to shut down theme parks....

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Chris Columbus said there is no NC-17 version, but did add that multiple cuts of the movie exist. “The reality is that there was a deal between Robin and myself, which was, he’ll do one or two, three scripted takes. And then he would say, ‘Then let me play.’ And we would basically go on anywhere between 15 to 22 takes, I think 22 being the most I remember,” Columbus said....

In an interview with the Mail on Sunday’s You magazine (via Insider), Harris said that the incident involved a “huge, huge star” though she declined to name which actor. But she said that while she was reading for a role during an audition, the man slid his hand up her skirt. “What was so shocking about it was the casting director was there and the director and, of course, no one said anything because he was — he is — such a huge star,” she said....

After being announced as the first Black Time Lord for the beloved BBC sci-fi series, Gatwa’s Doctor is confirmed to be queer according to his co-star Neil Patrick Harris. Harris revealed on Variety’s Just for Variety podcast that Gatwa will “be the first gay Doctor, which is going to be super cool” and that the “Sex Education” alum’s take makes for a “sexier Doctor” in the series. Gatwa also played a gay role, as teen Eric, on the Netflix coming-of-age series....

Bonus Reason: Julia Garner, a two-time Emmy winner for “Ozark,” shifts into the lead position for “Inventing Anna,” playing the fake German heiress whose real name is Anna Sorokin. Given her convincing (and popular) portrayal of a Missouri bumpkin in that other Netflix show, portraying a high-society woman of means on this one should make for an exciting challenge — and one fans will be eager to see peeled back over nine episodes....

To promote the trailer on Monday, regional cover artists (South Korean singer YooA, Egyptian artist Carmen Soliman, Brazilian singer Priscilla Alcantara), and “Over the Moon” voice actor Ken Jeong teased separate installments on Twitter as the moon rose across their respective countries. The co-production with Pearl Studio (“Abominable”) was animated at Sony Pictures Imageworks, with Oscar winner John Kahrs (“Paperman”) serving as co-director, and Oscar winner Gennie Rim (“Dear Basketball”) producing with Pearl’s Peilin Chou....
