Singh is a self-taught filmmaker who’d made only one short before making the leap to this feature, which debuted in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition. “Fire in the Mountains” is bursting with the feeling of a filmmaker who has something to share: a point of view, a dramatic setup, and a stunning series of landscapes that you haven’t seen before. The film is set in Uttarakhand, the northern Indian province that edges into the Himalayas and features emerald hills, snow-capped peaks, and startlingly clear skies....

On Netflix’s “Emily in Paris,” Bravo plays Gabriel; the criminally handsome, criminally French neighbor of the titular Emily (Lily Collins), a French chef in France who speaks French and who is set up as Emily’s endgame from Season 1, Episode 1. He is kind and attractive (and French), the diet version of better romantic heroes, but not a particularly compelling or entertaining character — but it turns out Bravo has the capacity for both....

“George & Tammy” chronicles the country music power couple, whose complicated-but-enduring relationship inspired some of the most memorable ballads of all time. Wynette is well-known for her song “Stand By Your Man,” which features prominently in the trailer, and Jones’ is notable for “He Stopped Loving Her Today.” Together, the duo has 30 No. 1 country hits including duets “We’re Gonna Hold On,” “Golden Ring,” and “Near You.” The series is created by Abe Sylvia, who also worked with Chastain on “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” and is directed by John Hillcoat (“The Road”)....

“I honestly feel that to be nominated by your peers is about as good as it gets,” Close said. “And then, I’ve never understood how you could honestly compare performances, you know? “There’s not a lot of games in it, there’s not a lot of wittiness and retro joy,” Green said. “It’s kind of a coming-of-age film, and it’s a very different tone. And that’s what excited me about it, is to have the three chapters that I’ve been involved in be very different from each other. They are all there to honor Carpenter, but aren’t necessary just emulating him.” Honoring Carpenter is the name of the game for “Halloween Ends....

Director Taormina is a skillful young filmmaker, making his feature debut here. He’s working with mainly non-professional young actors with a simple setup: it’s the end of a high school year and a prom-like dance looms, along with its anticipatory jitters. A sprawling cast of teenage boys and girls is introduced in the opening scenes and the costumes and suburban setting suggest someplace middle-America, but also flung out of time. They are all hurtling toward some kind of rite of passage with a sex-obsessed energy while simultaneously wondering if there might be more to life than the ultimate goal of “porking,” as one kid puts it....

The director penned the upcoming novel “Heat 2” as a prequel origin story for Al Pacino and Robert De Niro’s respective characters, police officer Vincent Hanna and criminal Neil McCauley, showcasing the relationship between Hanna (Pacino) and Chris Shiherlis, played by Val Kilmer in the 1995 thriller. While Pacino could conceivably be back as Hanna (and already has fan-casted Timothée Chalamet to play the younger version of himself) due to a time jump in the sequel installment, Mann confirmed that De Niro and Kilmer will not be reprising their roles....
