Based on Diana Gabaldon’s nine-book series of the same name, “Outlander” tells the story of Claire Randall (Caitríona Balfe), a nurse living in 1945 who is transported back in time to the 18th century, where she falls in love with Highland warrior Jaime Fraser (Sam Heughan). The show follows Claire and Jamie’s relationship as they navigate the real-life Jacobite rising and other historical events of the era, before more time travel shenanigans cause them to hop freely throughout history....

Sight & Sound voters selected Chantal Akerman’s “Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles” as this decade’s greatest film of all time. It is the fourth film to ever receive the honor, after “Bicycle Thieves,” “Citizen Kane,” and “Vertigo.” But Paul Schrader isn’t sold on the pick. The “Master Gardener” director took to his always colorful Facebook page to question the logic of the selection and question if the poll’s voters were committed to judging films by their artistic value....

A docu-comedy in the style of “The Rehearsal” or HBO’s two-season series “How to With John Wilson” — both produced by Nathan Fielder — “Paul T. Goldman” is the passion project of Jason Woliner. Best known for directing 2020’s “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm,” Woliner is a veteran comedy director, with episodes of “The Last Man on Earth,” “Parks and Recreation,” and Fielder’s Comedy Central series “Nathan For You” on his résumé. As he explains in a letter that accompanied the show’s announcement, Woliner has been working on this series for 10 years....

The series, which cheekily takes its name from stoner comedy “Dude, Where’s My Car?,” revolves around John Leonard, a college student who, in 1996, went on an ambitious quest to obtain 7 million “Pepsi Points,” a loyalty program that offered merchandise for customers who bought enough Pepsi cans. In a commercial for the program, Pepsi advertised that 7 million points (equivalent to about $4.3 million in Pepsi cases) could be redeemed for an AV-8 Harrier II jet....

“Reservation Dogs” is still a comedy in Season 2, but as the Dogs seek individual identities the show shifts to a more downbeat tone. The first four episodes made available to press present a rapid descent into sadness: Willie Jack blames it all on “bad medicine,” but that same bad medicine plagues Elora and newfound friend Jackie (Elva Guerra), whose presumably life-changing trip to California isn’t what they’d hoped. Hell, even their clubhouse — where Daniel committed suicide — is about to be razed so a Texas rancher can build a megachurch....

“Yes, I was surprised with the reception from the West,” Rajamouli said in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly. “A good story is a good story for everyone, but I didn’t think I could make films for Western sensibilities.
