Netflix confirmed that Season 5 of “The Crown” suffered a large theft to the tune of £150,000, or $201,000, after three production trucks were broken into February 18. The heist occurred in a lorry park in Mexborough in Yorkshire, where “The Crown” was filming nearby. Over 350 items were taken, including a replica of a 1897 Russian Imperial Coronation Fabergé coach egg purchased by the Queen’s grandfather, as well as 12 sets of silver candelabras, jewelry, a William IV grandfather clock, 10-piece silver dressing table, St....

“The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special” debuts today on Disney+, where it makes a strong (and genuinely hysterical) case for expanding the MCU’s roster and limits. “Guardians” writer and director James Gunn wrote the special in a matter of hours while filming 2023’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” an enjoyable experience juxtaposed with the “torture” of his third MCU feature film. The special swiftly and smartly sets up some plot threads and larger MCU nuggets — like the Guardians taking over Knowhere, their new talking dog (Maria Bakalova), and Rocket’s (Bradley Cooper) concerning Christmas present — but it’s also the rare piece of the Marvel story that requires almost no prior knowledge....

“The Slow Hustle” details the mysterious death of veteran Baltimore police officer, Detective Sean Suiter. As the film lays out, Suiter’s death is just one in a string of corruption claims against Baltimore PD, with Suiter himself marked as a key witness in an upcoming trial. As the various journalists, family members, and others associated with the case lay out, the desire was to sell Suiter as another bad apple in order to get the story squashed....

And yet, Kathleen Peterson is murdered. A heated argument turns physical. The hallway again transforms into its inevitable, nightmarish state. Michael is both angry and apologetic, but he’s unquestionably at fault. Like the district attorney and his team claim from the start, Kathleen’s death was a homicide. With only five of the limited series’ eight episodes screened for critics, there very well may be a third or fourth reenactment of a murder that’s been debated for nearly two decades....

The most fun and least depressing superhero movie in a very long time, Gunn’s deliriously ultra-violent “The Suicide Squad” wears the yoke of its genre with a lightness that allows it to slip loose of the usual restraints, if not quite shake them off altogether. It must be liberating to make a $150 million (give or take) mulligan for a widely maligned disaster that still managed to gross almost a billion dollars despite becoming a punchline along the way, and that’s really what this unhinged carnival of R-rated cartoon mayhem amounts to at the end of the day: Not a reboot of or a sequel to 2016’s “Suicide Squad,” but rather a second draft....
