At the last CinemaCon, in 2019, studios and exhibitors approached the event with the common understanding that studios release their slates in theaters. Two years later, studios presume nothing and exhibitors try to keep pace. Theaters are no longer a given as studios determine the best way to release their films, whether it’s theaters, PVOD, streaming, or some combination thereof. The annual exhibitor convention at Caesar’s Palace usually takes place in late March or early April, the better for distributors to promote their big summer titles....

The impromptu burglary sets the stage for “Robbin’ Season,” the subtitle for a Season 2 filled many more bizarre and reckless acts — from Alfred getting repeatedly mugged by his own fans to an odd man named Teddy Perkins attempting to stage a home invasion as an excuse to kill his own brother. Meanwhile, Earn is trying to prove his worth to Alfred; that he’s a benefit to his cousin’s rising star and not just a friend looking for a handout....

The stage musical adaptation of Robert Zemeckis’ beloved sci-fi comedy film will begin preview performances at the Winter Garden Theater on June 30, 2023, with an official opening date set for August 3. The venue currently hosts “The Music Man” revival starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster, which will close this January. The news was announced Friday to coincide with “Back to the Future Day,” which marks the date — October 21 — the main characters of the film time-travel to in the climax....

The troop consists of Carolyn Taylor, Meredith MacNeill, Aurora Browne, and Jennifer Whalen, all executive producers and writers of the series. Each bringing unique talents to the variety of characters they play, the performers prove that no amount of wacky voices or pop culture references can beat time and experience. All but MacNeill are alumni of The Second City’s Toronto Company, putting them in great company with Catherine O’Hara, Eugene Levy, Dan Akroyd, Martin Short, Mike Myers, and Gilda Radner, among others....

There are few things on TV more thrilling than a “Billions” episode that starts in media res. No matter how many hours the story jumps back, getting a glimpse of an opening that you know is going to be completely reframed is an invitation to go on a roller coaster that’ll end in fire or Ice Juice. So in an hour that would ultimately mean the farewell of one of the headliner cast members that helped make “Billions” the “Billions” it became, it’s only fitting that the Season 5 finale teed up that ending with a trademark flourish....
