The 2020 installment of the event kicked off last week with three days of PBS panels and the press tour is continuing this week with shows from event mainstays such as Lifetime, AMC Networks, and National Geographic to the traditionally TCA-averse Netflix. The industry has changed significantly since the January Winter Press Tour and WarnerMedia and NBCUniversal are expected to spend their time promoting shows on their new HBO Max and Peacock streamers, respectively....

Here’s the official description: “This groundbreaking new original comedy series uses sketches and vignettes to illustrate what it feels like to experience various every-day situations including racial profiling, unemployment, falling in love and more, from Michael’s perspective.” The series will feature guest spots from “Saturday Night Live” cast members Cecily Strong, Heidi Gardner, Colin Quinn, Ellen Cleghorne and Colin Jost. Other notable guest stars include Omari Hardwick, Geoffrey Owens, Godfrey, Billy Porter and Method Man....

But Brittany Galvin, the contestant in question — who says the whole ordeal was “defeating” — had the grace and presence of mind to push back on ABC’s narrative. In this week’s “The Women Tell All” episode, she respectfully denied the rumors without belittling or shaming sex workers. By deliberately using the term “sex work industry” and calling it “an occupation,” Galvin may have just become the first person to say sex work is work on national television....

Non-fiction cinema has been evolving since the birth of the medium while capturing a world in motion. From the actualités of the Lumière brothers in the late 19th century to the heavily manipulated ethnographic films of the 1920, from the vérité films of the Maysles brothers to the man-on-the-street agitprop popularized by Michael Moore, documentaries have naturally always been more responsive to their times than any other mode of filmmaking. Not only do they reveal our world to us, but they shape how we view it, and the early years of the 21st century have proven that to be more true than ever before....

But what this sweet, fleet-footed little trifle does capture is how to start a whole new you after you and me is no more. This certainly makes for an overly idealistic experience, but “Broken Hearts Gallery” is a far-cry from the algorithm-driven uncanny valleys of romantic human behavior as seen on Netflix’s versions of the same kind of film, and it features a totally delightful turn from Geraldine Viswanathan as the central brokenhearted who hatches an enviably creative way to move on....

Thus, “The Croods: A New Age” was born. Was it worth the wait? Eh, sort of. Like its predecessor, Joel Crawford’s feature directorial debut offers a familiar story, some classic lessons, and a lot of caveman-centric humor in one inoffensive package. The good stuff is still good: full-throated voice performances from a star-studded cast (Nicolas Cage manages to make his role as a prehistoric dad fit neatly alongside other recent choices in his inscrutable career), a bevy of delightfully weird animals, and the kind of loving messaging that never goes out of style....

The official “Devil All the Time” synopsis from Netflix reads: “In Knockemstiff, Ohio and its neighboring backwoods, sinister characters — an unholy preacher (Pattinson), twisted couple (Clarke and Keough), and crooked sheriff (Stan) — converge around young Arvin Russell (Holland) as he fights the evil forces that threaten him and his family.” “It was a hard book to adapt also because there was so much that we loved,” Campos told Entertainment Weekly earlier this month about adapting Pollock’s novel with brother Paulo Campos....
