Johnson’s “Star Wars” films were announced in November 2017, just one month before “The Last Jedi” hit theaters. The trilogy was promised to “introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that ‘Star Wars’ lore has never before explored,” a similar tagline to what director Taika Waititi recently said of his yet-untitled franchise installment slated for a December 2025 release. Yet don’t count out Johnson getting back to a galaxy far, far away....

Per HBO, “The Righteous Gemstones” tells the story of a world-famous televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed and charitable work. Season 2 follows the Gemstone family as they are threatened by outsiders from both the past and present who wish to destroy their empire. In a new interview with Deadline, Hayek Pinault praised the experience of working with Jolie on the upcoming film. While she didn’t discuss the plot, she had nothing but good things to say about Jolie’s artistry. The two previously appeared together in Chloe Zhao’s “Eternals,” but this is their first time working together as an actor and director. The first three episodes, which kick off Saturday, October 1, will be hosted by Miles Teller, Brendan Gleeson, and Megan Thee Stallion. “Top Gun: Maverick” actor Teller will make his hosting debut during the Season 48 premiere, with Kendrick Lamar as the musical guest for the third time.
