Where to Watch ‘Dare Me’: Netflix (The series originally aired on USA.) Right now, there’s a great season of TV on Netflix from a few years ago, revolving around the complex lives of members and coaches of a cheerleading squad, one that had its fandom demanding a Season 2. Yes, there’s that documentary series currently racing up the platform’s Top 10, but all those descriptors also apply to “Dare Me.” Adapted from her novel of the same name by co-showrunner Megan Abbott, alongside Gina Fattore, the one-season drama centered on a pair of Midwestern high school cheerleaders bound together by their past and some fateful decisions far away from the mat....
“I want to play Bane so bad I went to Warner Bros., had an appointment with them, had an appointment with DC, walked in the door and said, ‘I want to play Bane,’” Bautista said. “I’m not kidding. They were a little like. ‘Woah, we’re not even casting Bane.’ I was like ‘I don’t care, I’m playing him.’” Bautista might have to wait a while before Warner Bros. decides to bring Bane back to the big screen....

But in a new interview with Den of Geek, “Deadpool 3” screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick revealed that progress is being made on the threequel, and the duo expressed their excitement about incorporating the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “It’s an absolute thrill to have the band back together, to have a new backdrop in the MCU with new characters, new villains, that kind of thing,” Reese said. “You know, it’s never a marriage we necessarily saw coming — Fox and Disney, that was an external thing [separate] from our storytelling process....
The decision, which could seem like an attempt to get away from the politics of an already fraught year, actually crafts a different narrative Pena and crew hope will inspire children. “This isn’t a show about a president; it’s a show about a teenage girl,” Pena said during an interview with IndieWire. “So how do we break into her world instead of the other way around?” Pena said she understood audiences didn’t necessarily want to live at the White House with a grown Elena....

Whatever is in the water over at the Walt Disney Company, both casts have barely changed, and it feels like no time has passed on the magical ticking clock of aging. But was it worth the wait?
