Though Fallon had been anticipated to continue working at NBCUniversal, the company renewed his show for a longer-than-expected period. “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” was once the ratings leader of late night but began to slip as competing shows began to place greater emphasis on political jokes and commentary during and after the 2016 presidential election. Regardless, Fallon is still one of most well-known faces of NBCUniversal and continues to be a ratings driver for the company....

The news comes in the middle of the show’s second season, which premiered on October 30 and will conclude December 11 after seven episodes. Like the first season, which premiered in July 2021, Season 2 revolves around the relationships, petty rivalries, and dysfunctions of the guests and employees staying at the titular luxury resort chain. And then there are the murders. Both seasons were shot on location at different vacation destinations — Season 1 in Hawaii, and Season 2 in Sicily....

Kilmer, who has been recovering from throat cancer, first revealed the health diagnosis in 2017. Chemotherapy and radiation treatments have left Kilmer unable to speak clearly, but he hasn’t lost his creative voice. “Val” compiles footage dating back to his childhood, along with personal recordings from the early days in his career — including his 1983 Broadway debut. Kilmer’s son Jack, an actor himself, narrates the film. As for Kilmer, the 61-year-old actor has been documenting his life and career through film and video for more than 40 years....

“Vampire Academy” is a series so rich with history that a big reason the new Peacock show struggles to gain footing is trying to fit it all in. It exists in a world of vampire royalty known as Moroi and human/vampire guardians called Dhampirs. The novels, and show, follow Rose Hathaway (Sisi Stringer), a Dhampir attending the prestigious St. Vladmir’s Academy with her best friend Vasilisa “Lissa” Dragomir (Daniela Nieves), the last of her family and presumed heir to the Moroi throne....

As previously announced, Pedro Almodóvar will kick off the 2021 Venice Film Festival with the world premiere of his new drama “Parallel Mothers.” The film will debut in competition and vie for the festival’s top prize, the Golden Lion. “Parallel Mothers” is written and directed by Almodóvar, and stars both regular and new collaborators, including Penélope Cruz, Milena Smit, Israel Elejalde, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Julieta Serrano, and Rossy De Palma. Almodóvar attended Venice last year to world premiere his short film “The Human Voice” out of competition....

“The thing that I’ve never understood about Cronenberg is that he’s had almost a half a century of making movies, and many really good movies,” Mortensen said. “He’s clearly one of the masters, right? Living masters. And yet this is a man who, every time out, struggles for years, usually, to raise minimal financing for his movies. Which are never really expensive.” Mortensen continued, “He always comes in on or under budget, on or before time on shoots....

It’s safe to say that society as a whole has never talked about Kathryn Hahn more than they have during the past few weeks. Not when she was a series regular for six seasons on cable. Not when she was getting Oscar buzz for a critically adored Sundance drama. And certainly not when she was the lead of her own HBO series (which she also produced). Thus is the power of “WandaVision” and the MCU at large....
