On Thursday, Masterpiece on PBS announced that it had renewed “Sanditon,” the ITV series based on Jane Austen’s final, unfinished novel, for not one — but two — seasons. The news comes after an extensive fan driven online campaign for the show, starring Rose Williams as the heroine Charlotte Heywood, to be continued. It just goes to prove that greenlighting a show for a single season and ending with a bodice-ripping cliffhanger (“What do you MEAN she just rides off in the carriage after he came after her?...

The “Thor: Love and Thunder” co-stars may battle each other onscreen, with Bale as Gorr the God Butcher and Hemsworth reprising his role of the titular Nordic god superhero Thor, but actor Bale gave up on looking menacingly buff before even joining the production. “There’s no point in working out at all because you can’t compete with Chris,” Bale told The Wrap. The Oscar winner added that writer/director Taika Waititi gave him comic books featuring Gorr the God Butcher to read in preparation for playing the villain....

Now, the project has been hit with another creative blow, as Variety first reported that Field has now dropped out as well. It would have marked the continuation of a triumphant comeback for Field, who has been receiving glowing reviews on the festival circuit for “TÁR,” his first feature film since 2006’s “Little Children.” Hulu representatives confirmed to IndieWire that Todd Field will no longer direct the series, while declining to comment further....
