The slatted wooden floors groan like ghosts whenever anyone moves, or when Aalbert tinkers with the headgear he fits around Mia’s face before meals, fresh spit pooling into each of the glass vials positioned on either side of her mouth....
Ellen Kuras, the visionary behind “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and “Blow,” makes history as the first woman to receive the ASC Lifetime Achievement Award. During the Apple Event, the tech company premiered a new short film shot by Lubezki using the iPhone 12 Pro. The short plays like Apple’s version of a Terrence Malick movie: Lubezki discusses the virtues of the new Apple product via narration while a collection of gorgeous, sweeping images he shot using the device play as a montage. “When I started shooting movies, you had to rent a very expensive camera, buy film stock, pay for developing, special equipment for editing,” Lubezki says....
