The relationship between Reeves’ Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss’ Trinity was a driving force in the narrative of the original “Matrix” trilogy, and both actors have signed on to reprise their roles in the fourth movie. Dunst discussed the possibility at a November 11 screening of her latest movie, Jane Campion’s “The Power of the Dog,” with Variety’s Mark Malkin. “I would do it. Why not? That would be fun,” she said. “I would never say no to something like that.” She even jokingly quipped about what her role might look like: “I’d be old MJ at this point with little Spidey babies.” After rising to fame with roles in “Interview with the Vampire,” “The Virgin Suicides,” and “Bring it On,” Dunst got a blockbuster role in “Spider-Man” and delivered one of the most memorable Marvel moments with an upside-down kiss shared between Mary Jane and Spider-Man....

“Let Him Go” stars Kevin Costner as a retired sheriff and Diane Lane as his wife. The feature filmmaking debut of Alexandria native Mayye Zayed, “Lift Like a Girl” is an intimate observational portrait of a young girl’s empowerment through the traditionally male sport of weightlifting. The film is bolstered by an improbable hero, the passionate and cantankerous Captain Ramadan, who rules his outdoor training facility with an iron fist and a can-do attitude. The Captain, as his young charges call him, hobbles around his patch of dusty earth watering trees held flimsily by rock piles, and shouting haphazard commands to his eager trainees....

France’s Lumière Awards proved a colossal evening for Audrey Diwan’s festival favorite “Happening,” which took home both best film and best actress wins on Jan. 17. The abortion drama previously won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and was later acquired by IFC Films. Set in 1963 France, “Happening” focuses on a promising young student (Anamaria Vartolome) who risks prison to terminate an unwanted pregnancy that threatens her academic future....

Asked recently by GQ magazine to name “his favorites of his oeuvre,” Shyamalan answered, “The ones I have most affinity for are the ones that have maintained that quirky nature. ‘Unbreakable,’ and ‘Lady in the Water,’ and ‘The Visit,’ and this movie [‘Old’]…the ones that are poky.” Some moviegoers might be surprised to hear Shyamalan prefers a film like “Lady in the Water” over “The Sixth Sense.” The 2006 release remains one of Shyamalan’s most critically-maligned movies....
