HBO programming chief Casey Bloys hit the pause button on fans’ hopes for a “Sopranos” spin-off. Series creator David Chase inked a five-year, first-look deal in October 2021, following the premiere of prequel film “The Many Saints of Newark” on HBO Max. “I don’t think David has any interest in revisiting ‘The Sopranos.’ And I would agree with him,” Bloys told The Hollywood Reporter February 16. “It’s a perfect series that I don’t think needs revisiting....

That’s a bit of a surprise; John Krasinski’s hit grossed as much as “Purge,” Conjuring,” and “Hitman’s” combined, and “Hitman’s” grossed the least with $37 million....

In place of “Morning Express,” HLN will now simulcast new CNN morning show “CNN This Morning.” Meade, who has been with the cable news channel since September 11, 2001 (yes, her first day on-air was 9/11), and her staff have been laid off. CNN (and thus, HLN) chief Chris Licht on Wednesday warned staff via email that layoffs were about to begin. On Thursday, he sent a much-lengthier memo, also obtained by IndieWire, about the reorg....

Clint Eastwood is back in the saddle (and behind the camera) for “Cry Macho,” a Western about a washed-up horse breeder who agrees to kidnap a child for his former boss. The film premiered in movie theaters on Friday, but for those who want to watch from home, “Cry Macho” is also streaming exclusively on HBO Max for the next 31 days. Eastwood, 91, directed and produced the film in addition to playing the lead role....

Like many viewers, I found myself inexplicably drawn to the 13-episode comedy about the titular psychic (Rebecca Rittenhouse) who can see everyone’s future but her own — until she does a reading for Ben (David Del Rio) and sees the two of them getting married. A foretold happily ever after that seems too good to be true quickly unravels, throwing Ben and his girlfriend (Chloe Bridges) into the lives of Maggie and her parents (a superb Kerri Kenney-Silver and Chris Elliot)....
