Created by Jeff Astrof (“Trial & Error”) and Sharon Horgan (“Divorce”), “Shining Vale” co-stars Merrin Dungey, Judith Light, and Sherilyn Fenn....

A quick rundown of the episode truly captured how dated this “topical” live sketch comedy show can be in the blink of the eye — as has always been the case, not just something that has become apparent in recent years. The monologue wasn’t funny, as it was pretty devoid of jokes, and the jokes that were there didn’t quite hit due to Gyllenhaal’s pacing....

Meh. Produced entirely remotely by Jenji Kohan, the creator of “Orange Is the New Black,” the series focuses on how Americans were forced to cope with the early effects of quarantine. Each episode tells a different story. But is it worth watching? For a number of reasons, it falls short. A television show about life during the pandemic feels too soon — we don’t know how this story ends, because it has yet to end....

The new dates for the films are as follows: “The Father,” starring Anthony Hopkins, will now be released February 26, 2021; Michael Dweck and Gregory Kershaw’s festival darling “The Truffle Hunters” will now be released March 12, 2021; and nonfiction director Heidi Ewing’s narrative feature debut “I Carry You with Me” will now be released in the spring of 2021....
