Screenwriter Jack Thorne calls the discussion on disability representation in media “the great ignored question,” and it’s a sentiment echoed by many of us with disabilities. As Thorne lays out, critics often speak out of both sides of their mouth — acknowledging the lack of disabled voices in the various phases of film and television production, but never questioning it beyond that. Now, the screenwriter of HBO’s “His Dark Materials” hopes that he can use his privilege to not only further the conversation, but do more towards promoting disabled inclusion....

“I think we were very respectful of what the original show is,” said Sapochnik, who directed six “Game of Thrones” episodes, directs multiple episodes of “Dragon,” and also serves as showrunner alongside series co-creator Ryan Condal. “It wasn’t broken so we’re not we’re not trying to reinvent the wheel. ‘House of the Dragon’ has its own tone that will evolve and emerge over the course of the show. NBCUniversal has the broadcast rights to the 2020 Summer Olympics in the United States, and the conglomerate is expected to broadcast the event on several channels, including NBC Sports and The Olympic Channel. The official broadcast schedule for the 2020 Summer Olympics, which was delayed until this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, has yet to be announced. Cord cutters won’t have to miss out on the action: NBCUniversal previously stated that many of the events from the 2020 Summer Olympics would be streamed on the company’s Peacock streaming service, which has a free, ad-supported subscription tier....

Earlier, August 11: Instagram has issued an apology for temporarily banning the new poster for Pedro Almodóvar’s “Parallel Mothers.” The poster was released earlier this week and features the provocative image of a woman’s lactating nipple. The poster was removed from Facebook because of the nudity on display. The poster’s Spanish designer Javier Jaén issued a complaint over censorship. According to The Associated Press, Instagram parent company Facebook then backtracked on its decision and returned the poster to the social media platform....
