As a recent DGA report revealed, the there’s still work to be done to enhance opportunities for directors of color. There is additionally an acknowledgement that much of the critical leadership in entertainment is white and male and the desire to put this panel together ran off of that. The hope is to move the conversation away from asking the talent about diversity initiatives and look at the leadership. “Inclusivity is to create one level playing field for everyone,” said Tim McNeal, the Vice President of Creative Talent Development and inclusion for Walt Disney Television at the network’s TCA panel on the subject....

After the massive success of “Uncut Gems,” which cemented the Safdies as two of the biggest names in the independent film world and earned Sandler some newfound critical acclaim for his acting abilities, it seemed inevitable that the three artists would eventually make another movie together. They did reteam for a six-minute short film in 2020, but the news of another feature film is likely the scoop that fans have been waiting for....

“Judas and the Black Messiah” was the big winner, as it also picked up Best Supporting Actor for Daniel Kaluuya and Best Supporting Actress for Dominique Fishback. “One Night in Miami” tied “Judas” for the most overall wins, however, with three total prizes: Best Director for Regina King, Best Screenplay for Kemp Powers, and Best Ensemble.
